How economic recession has affected civil construction in Brazil

Based on raw data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, the construction industry was significantly affected by the economic recession. The Exame Magazine also published a report claiming that profitability in this industry has gone down and that this crisis has taken a toll on the country’s Gross Domestic Product. However, Maluf asserts that in the financial years 2016 and 2017, this industry is bound to change through increased demand for construction materials. This demand will increase sales, which will revive the construction sector. The Brazilian Association of Construction Materials Industry also shares the same view as Maluf. This decision was arrived at after they conducted a survey to predict the future market trends. Maluf has worked in this line of work for decades and, hence, he understands this sector more.
